Sonia Caterina Giaccone (Ph.D.) is Assistant Professor of Economics and Business Management at the Department of Economics and Business of the University of Catania.
She graduated in Economics with 110/110 and honors at the University of Catania, where she obtained her PhD in Business Economics in 2003. She obtained a two-year post-doctoral scholarship and then a research grant of 2 years and 11 months at the Faculty of Economics of Catania.
Since November 2010 he has been Assistant Professor of Economics and Business Management (SECS-P/08) at the Department of Economics and Business of the University of Catania.
In April 2018 he obtained the National Scientific Qualification for the functions of Associate Professor of Economics and Business Management (sector 13/B2). In August 2021 she was the winner of the procedure for the call to second-level professor for sector 13/B2 Economics and business management, scientific-disciplinary sector SECS-P-08, at the Department of Economics and Business of the University of Catania, as part of the Extraordinary Plan for the career progression of permanent researchers in possession of national qualification.
She has been Visiting Researcher at Integrated Product Development, School of Industrial Engineering and Management, KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.
Over the years, from 2004 to today, he has taught several subjects at the Department of Economics and Business of the University of Catania. In particular, she taught: Economics and Business Management, Management of Tourist Enterprises, and Marketing of Tourist Enterprises, in the bachelor's degree course in Economics and Management of Tourism Enterprises; Trade and sales management, in the bachelor's degree course in Business Administration. She currently teaches Territorial Marketing, in the master's degree in Economics and Management of the Territory and Tourism. She has also carried out teaching and seminar activities in University Masters, PhD courses, foreign universities.
Since 2020 she is a member of the Board of Professors of PhDs in Economics, Management and Statistics, organized jointly by the University of Messina.
She is the author of articles published in national and international journals, monographs and chapters of volumes, and has presented her research in conferences of national and international importance.
Her research interests are mainly aimed at the study of destination marketing strategies, creative tourism and events, digital ecosystems, cultural heritage management and promotion, coopetition strategy, innovation management and competitive dynamics.
