SHORT BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES
Calogero Guccio (Ph.D, Catania) is full professor of public economics at the Department of Economics and Business of the University of Catania. He is member of Management Committee of the Scuola Superiore di Catania a higher education Centre of the University of Catania established in 1998 forming part of the National Network Italian Schools of Excellence together with Scuola Normale Superiore and Scuola S. Anna in Pisa, Sissa in Trieste, and IUSS in Pavia.
He obtained the Laurea (BA) in Economics (1997) and the Ph.D. in Health Economics at the University of Catania (2000). Before moving at the Department of Economics and Business he was visiting research fellow at the MEcoP Institute of the University of Lugano (2002) and assistant professor in public economics at the Department of Law and Social Science of the University of Reggio Calabria (2003-2007).
His research interests include empirical and theoretical aspects of health economics, law and economics, cultural heritage, public procurement, and the evaluation of efficiency of private and public subjects. He published in the field of health economics, public procurement, law and economics, economics of education and cultural economics. His research has been published on outlets such as, among others, European Journal of Political Economy (IF 1.4685), Health Policy (IF 1.907), International Tax and Public Finance (IF 1.181), Journal of Productivity Analysis (IF 0.819), Economic Modelling (IF 0.827), Applied Economics (IF 0.613), and Journal of Cultural Economics (IF 0.758). He has refereed for several journals in health economics and public finance and has served as a member or coordinator of several national and international research projects in the field of health economics.
