He graduated in Economics at the University of Lecce (2000) where he achieved the Master in Social Science for the Development, the Cooperation and Non-profit Organizations (2002). He was visiting student at the University of Leeds (UK) at the University of Missouri (Kansas City, USA) and in 2007 he obtained the Phd in Economics at the University of Naples (Italy) “Federico II”. He was research fellow at the University of Salento, the University of Sannio (BN) and the University of Catania. He has taught Economics, Monetary Economics, Economic Policy, Economics of the European Union and Economics and Cooperation. He is now lecturer in Political Economy and Economic Policy at the Department of Law (University of Catania).
He achieved the National Scientific Qualification as full professor in the Italian higher education system for the disciplinary field of 13/C1 ECONOMIC HISTORY (Academic Recruitment Field 13/C1 - Economic history, according to the national classification) (08/06/2026).
His main fields of interest are the history of economic thought, theories of money, labour economics and macroeconomic policies. He is a member of the editorial board of the journal Economia e Politica as well as member of the scientific board of Il Pensiero Economico Moderno and the Journal of Pluralism in Economics. He is the author/co-author of more than sixty papers. He has published, among others, in the following reviews: American Review of Political Economy, Cambridge Journal of Economics, Journal of Economic Issues, History of Economic Ideas, History of Economic Thought and Policy, Metroeconomica, Il Pensiero Economico Italiano, Review of Political Economy, Structural Change and Economic Dynamics.
